Expanding CCB® Sleeve For Welding Pipe Line
Tie-Ins And To Repair Pipe Sections
The Expanding CCB® sleeve allows tie-ins and repairs without extensive excavation, or long-term down time of pipelines. Repairs are accomplished by removing the damaged section of pipe, then installing replacement sections using the standard CCB®; sleeve.
After the damaged area of the pipe line has been replaced, the repair is completed by leaving a gap between the last section of replacement pipe and the existing pipe. The gap is one inch wider than the Expanding CCB® sleeve . This allows the fitting to be lowered into place between the adjacent pipe ends. The Expanding CCB® sleeve is then expanded outwards in both directions until insertion of both ends of the fitting is completed by contact of all spacer nubs with the two pipe end bevels. Once the fitting is in position, the standard weld technique is used to weld the fitting into place.
After welding into position, a filet weld is applied to the gap where the two sections of outside sleeves overlap.
The amount of excavation is limited to only the area of damaged pipe. Shut down of the pipeline occurs only when the removal of pipe is ready to commence. Flow can be re-initiated immediately after the repair connection is installed.
