Stainless Steel CCB® Sleeve For Prevention of Stress Corrosion Cracking
The CCB® sleeve can be manufactured from stainless steel tubing. The stainless steel CCB® sleeve is produced using the same materials used for the pipe. The weld band is also made of identical materials. This eliminates any problems that normally arise when using and/ or welding dissimilar metals.
The Stress Corrosion Cracking of Duplex Stainless Steel Welds in sour, as well as other conditions can be greatly reduced through the use of the stainless steel CCB® sleeve during the weld process. Testing by many authorities, including those sanctioned by the national Association of corrosion Engineers (NACE) has shown that the welds of stainless steel pipe have repeatedly failed to exhibit the corrosion resistance of the piping when the weld area comes in contact with process fluids.
Limiting the stainless steel weld from continuing contact and thereby forcing the corrosive atmosphere to remain in surface contact with the same highly resistant stainless steel pipe greatly reduces the opportunity for stress corrosion cracking in the weld.
Standard weld procedures for the specific grade of stainless being fabricated shall be used to weld the stainless steel CCB® sleeve into place. O-rings are selected to provide the best long-term performance for the individual application.
